What a day!

It was quite a day today. We went to visit someone in the morning in a very high building with an elevator. We went there by car and it was the first time I tried my new car belt. It went great, but the pack leader should walk to my door via the front and not the back, because I am somewhat frightened to be alone in the car. The visit went fine and without accidents. Of course we had our share of accidents today, a total of four. In the afternoon we went to the postbox to send some letters – haven’t these people heard of e-mail yet?

After that we went to the neighbours, because I had not met the girl next door yet. I was welcomed by no less than five people there and they all thought I was a cute dog en kept stroking me. I was also very interested in their cat food of course, but they thought it was better not to eat it. In the afternoon I slept alone in my bench. I was frightened to be alone at first, but it seemed the rest of the pack was just in another room on the same floor and there was nothing to worry about.

I also discovered a sheep lying on the living room floor. Being a sheepdog I decided to get acquainted to it and we had a lovely time. Of course the pack forgot to make a nice photo of this moment. Sorry for that!

Tomorrow will be another exciting day. We will – again by car – I hope the weather is nice enough to get out in the cabriolet – for my first visit to the vet here. This visit is meant to get to know me, do a thorough checkup on my health and give my boss the opportunity to ask some questions about me.

Terrible weather

I enjoyed the rest of the day very well, playing with my new toys the fluffy donkey and the squeeking pig. Potty training is still in progress, we have had three accidents today but the rest of the pack accepts it as it is for now. The furry animal still does not want to play with me, but I guess he just needs his time to get to know me. After watching some detective programme I took a small nap on the floor with the pack leader. Now it’s time for a good night of sleep…

Potty training progress

This afternoon the rest of my pack was very pleased to see me peeing and pooing in their garden. They praised me like if I did something amazing like walking over water and gave me some treats. I also met little Naomi in our garden, but she scared me a bit with her enthusiasm. Now its time for some rest and trying to nibble the toe of the pack leader again.

First day with my new pack

My first day with my new pack was quite exciting. We first went for a car trip in an old Daimler of about three quarters of an hour. They brought some old travel bench they used for some other animal, but of course I refused to use such a thing. So I settled down between the feet of my new pack leader and occasionally climbed up on his lap to look around if we were driving in the right direction. As a border collie I must keep a watchful eye on everything of course!

Once we arrived I hesitated for a while whether to just follow them into a garden. As it later worked out it is their garden and I am welcome there too. My den is at the first floor of their house, it is a solid steel bench with a cushion and some financial newspaper to stimulate my intellect. I slept well the first night, my new pack sleeps in a room further on in the hallway. At their feet is a strange furry animal that does not seem to like me, I hope that changes in a couple of days, but for now the furry animal gives all kind signals to me to back off, however I was able to sniff at its tail.

The rest of the pack don’t like me to pee inside their house, so they quite often take my outside and make a great fuss about me when peeing in their garden. Since I do this quite random at the moment they’re considering even giving me a treat. When the pack leader takes me outside I often don’t have a need to pee, so I just lie down on his wooden shoes.
