Houdini

This afternoon the boss kept me alone at home for about two hours. No problem of course, but I certainly like some more space than only that stupid bench. The boss was amazed that I escaped my bench! He shouldn’t be, I’m an intelligent dog and I certainly know how to open a door.

Unfortunately I suffered from some diarrhea and I made a total mess of some of the rooms on the first floor. The boss was very delighted to do some cleaning duties after a days work.

First day as an assistant ICT engineer

Today we went for a long walk through the park. The boss wanted me to meet some goats, but to our great disappointment the goats were not in the park.

Later that day I joined the boss with a visit to a client to do some maintenance on the network and servers. Since the boss did not have too many questions I decided to do a quick nap.

In the evening I met some new friends on one of our walks, another Belgian shepherd and a pinscher. It was nice meeting you!

Update last week

My assistant had the flu last week so my weblog has not been maintained as frequently as I’d like it. Anyway: I had a great week.

Last Friday we went to the vet again for some necessary vaccinations. Of course I was very brave and didn’t bother about it. I now weigh about five and a half kilos, so that’s about a pound more than the week before.

In the afternoon we went for a drive and a walk. During the walk I took a jump in the water for a short swim, very refreshing! After that I rolled around in the mud, since that’s even better than a refreshing swim. The other pack members were quite bothered how to get me in the car after that 😉 At home they gave me a short shower to make sure I was a good looking dog again. Showers are strange just like rain and I don’t like them both.

On Sunday we went to school again where I met my other canine friends again. I found out that Senna from the end of the street has joined the class too! Of course I wasn’t very interested in learning things, but I had a good time with my friends.

During the week we played some new games. One of them is great: a dog cookie is hidden in a wooden shoe and I have to find out which one and try to get it out. Another one involves some dog chews hidden in an empty water bottle. Besides those games I am still very fond of sheep!

Puppy training

Yesterday I went to puppy training with the boss, so he could learn more about dogs. I wasn’t too interested in the course material, though I liked meeting my classmates and playing with them. After my class I met another shepherd dog I really liked and because of our shared interests (sheep) we had a lot to discuss.

On the way to the class and back I helped my boss driving his cars. I ensure every journey is a surprise by getting the windows down at random moments. After getting back from the training I was very tired and the rest of the day mainly consisted of catching up on a few quality hours of sleep.

Today the boss went for a training course in Nieuwegein (boring!), but he ensured I was in good hands: his colleague Ramon worked at our office all day and took me out for a few walks. In my opinion Ramon watches too much TV at home, he tried various Cesar Millan tricks on me during the day. The rest of the week Ramon will take care of me during the day and on Friday Laura will stay at home with me.

What a weekend!

Still a full day to go, but the weekend until now is great. Here’s what we did so far:

On Friday night it rained a lot. Despite that the pack leader insisted on going out with me. Well that’s fine is you want to het an outdoor shower, but don’t even think about dragging me into the garden next time. I simply don’t like rain! The rest of the evening I was quite busy chewing again on everything I could get my teeth on.

On Saturday we took a couple of walks and went to the butcher. The weather allowed us to take a drive in our Saab. Getting me secured in my seat was quite a hassle since those Swedish people make car belts that are not compatible with those in the rest of the world. After gaving been to the post office my boss did a bold try just to get me into the butchers shop on his arm, but that was not enough: the ladies at the counter kindly asked me to wait outside. I was a little upset to be kept waiting outside, but after a few minutes one of these nice ladies came outside to bring me some fresh meat and give me a good hug. The boss was right: this is my favourite shop.

After the visit to the shops we went home again where I met Ramon. He will keep an eye on me next week when the boss is away to learn some more things about networking. I still don’t understand: he has shelves full of books about networks and there’s still more to learn about them. If I were him I would just stay at home with my dog, but of course I might be slightly biased in my opinion. In the afternoon the boss made me a wooden floor inside my bench since I don’t like to lie on cushions and carpets, thanks! Meanwhile I worked on strengthening my friendship with the furry animal. Later the evening we met Fred and Ria again and more dogs: a Belgian shepherd and a supersized Beagle. In the evening I met Hans and Maaike and we went for a couple of walks. It was great meeting you, guys! The rest of the pack is also very pleased to see that today was the third day in a row without any accidents inside the house 😉

Sean the shreddog

As you might have noticed I like to chew on everything I see and I know for sure I can use this talent in a useful way by shredding all confidential papers here around the office. Today I started training for my new job using a paper bag and it was great fun.

The furry animal is becoming a partner in crime, he got an open can of food from the kitchen worktop so we could eat it together this afternoon.

We went for some longer walks today. One to the supermarket and another one to the Health Club where I met Raoul, Corinne and Hanny. It was really great to meet you! On one of our walks we also did a short run and I think I like running. I should train to run greater distances than just a street when I am older. The tennis balls are great to play with too. But all these activities do call for a short nap from time to time when I am tired.
